16th April - Albany We left the sleepy town (or hamlet) of Pemberton and headed further south to Albany to visit Middleton Beach. On route we stopped just outside Denmark at Valley of the Giants. The forest is all red and yellow Tingle trees which grow up to 70 metres high and are around 400 years old. There is a tree top walk, where you go on a walkway rising to 40 metres, and going round for about 600 metres. Being very scared of heights it was a great achievement for me to make the walk. We arrived at Middleton beach late afternoon, the sky was dramatic as it had been stormy during our drive down. We still went for a walk along the beach, Rob took off his boots and had a paddle. We stayed in a motel overnight, sampling yet another bottle of local wine! The wine is excellent down in this region, unfortunately most of it is not available back in the UK so we need to sample as much as possible whilst we are here!17th - long drive back towards Perth today (409 km - 5 hours driving). We are stopping over night in a neat B&B, tomorrow we go to Alice. We have prepared a general photo album to put on the blog, unfortunately we need to resize everything so it takes a bit longer than we would have liked. Hope to get lots uploaded soon so you can get a taste of what we have been experiencing.
