This morning Luke and I booked surfing lessons. The weather was cool, the wetsuits kept us comfortably warm in the water. We booked an hour lesson with Addie from the Surf Diva surf shop not far from our place. We spent some time on the beach going over the basics and then went out into the surf. Luke was a lot more successful than me. He got up pretty consistently and I got up once️. It was still a lot of fun. While we were out there we saw a leopard shark and a sea lion swam past us. Amy and Ellie hung out at the beach while Luke and I were surfing. Once the lesson was over, Luke and I hung onto our wetsuits and boogie boarded in the big waves.
Lunch was back at the apartment and then we drove over to a hiking area north of us. The trail was a bit treacherous. At one point we had to cross a 10 foot long 2 by 8 board over a creek with no hand rails. Amy stayed behind while the kids and climbed the trail to an overlook. The trail continued north, but I went back and got Amy and car while the kids continued. We met them at the Torrey Pines glider port. It is a cool spot overlooking the ocean with all these paragliders flying around. It also had a steep stairway down to the beach. It was a lot of work going up and down, but he beach was worth it. The beach was also popular with nudist so we did see more than we bargained for with one gentleman.
Went back to the apartment and rested for a couple of hours and then ate a local Italian restaurant.
