Ridiculosuly early start - but loads to do before 9am ferry to Fraser Island - check we have all the correct camping equipment, tents, pots, pans, cutlery, cool boxes etc and pack up 3 days worth of food and drink we have bought into cool boxes in our 4x4 van - 11 of us in group, 3 seats in front and 8 people in back.
I drive van to ferry terminal, difficulty pulling off ferry as we have worst of vans by far and clutch takes time getting use to, plus 3 diff 4x4 wheel settings.
Get to Fraser and share driving between me, Jon and James - as others not keen to drive.
Drive down sand/mud tracks through the rainforest which is awesome fun and done 75 mile stretch of beach on the east coast.
See a couple of nice lakes with crystal clear water and white silica sand, as well as a ship wreck on the beach.
Park up early and set up camp for the night with another group.
Cook food on gas stoves and then crack open the vast quantities of alcohol in the cool boxes - some great drinking games and jokes - really good group we are in.
Walk on beach before bed - decide after few mins in tent to sleep in van as too small for 3 big guys - disgustingly smelly in van with all the food and fat on the oven but quite comfortable!!
