Citadels, museums and a lot of tanks:
Today is our last day in Hue, home of the citadel of Vietnam which marks one of the bloodiest battles in the 2nd indochina war against America. We decided to visit the site which once housed a small working town with defenses. Though not much of the original site remains some buildings have been rebuilt to mimic the originals. On the gates, doorways and walls that remain you find various bullet holes that appear to trail off, some larger holes than others. It's a scary thought what occurred here once. We then visited a war museum that housed tanks, planes and weapons seized after the Americans had left. Rusted and scattered with bullet holes they now sit further being weathered in a courtyard out front of the museum. We grabbed a drink and snack at our local for Hue the DMZ bar (which has free pool) and then began our long journey up to Cat Ba island for some amazing scenery!
