Living The Dream
Hello readers,
I am back in Chile! Its way too expensive here, especially considering that Argentina is right next door. Argentina - the land where everything is twice as cheap and three times better! Chileans can be a little bit snobby and are definately not as friendly as the Argentines. Some times I just feel like punching them in the face! I don't know why but the blokes think they are really something and the girls are nowhere to be seen!
After a couple of days in the jungle in Argentina I boarded a day-long bus which took me up and over the Andes for the second time. In order to pass the northen border crossing you have to go as high as 5,000m a.s.l. which left me feeling breathless despite only sitting on a bus! The couple next to me looked like they we about to die!
I arrived in San Pedro where the bus left us at the border to get stamped in. We had to walk to the town which is a small oasis settlement in the middle of the desert. San Pedro is set up to rip off the tourist - every chance the town gets to take commision it snatches with both hands! Nice place though.
The surrounding area is breathtaking, especially at sunset. However, its a tourist trap - way too many travellers man, do you wanna buy some beads man, theres a rave in the desert tonight man! I didn't come here to feel like I was in Kingston, Jamaica so F*ck off...man!
I went on a tour to see the salt flat corridor, some salt caves, sand dunes and finally to watch the sunset at Valle de la Luna (Valley of the Moon) Nice touch.
Tomorrow I am leaving Chile and going on a three day 4x4 tour through the largest salt flats in the world.
The tour ends in Uyuni, Bolivia (Its much cheaper here)
