I've basically got a couple of weeks to use up before heading off to Cambodia so I decided to head back south and hit a couple of the other Islands. Ko Samet is basically the place where all Thai's hit at the weekend as it's only 3 hours from Bangkok.
It's a pretty cool island. I stayed at the Naga's beach huts and got a very basic beach bungalow with mossie net for 250 bhat a night which is about 4 quid. It was on one of the nicer beaches, and there's quite a few expensive places mixed in with the basic backpacker joints.
The first couple of days weren't spent doing that much as it was a bit quieter than I'd expected, but you certainly notice when the weekend hits as all the Thais come over enjoying the whiskey on the beach and it livens up a bit.
I met Isabelle and Jerome on the second day from Paris who I recognised from our boat over to the Island. We ended up having lunch together then hiring some scooters to go snorkelling in the south of the Islands. Word of warning the roads are in a bad state, so it was more like motor cross.
I then met them later for dinner at their bungalow which was a great little place with a great restaurant set on stilts in the middle of the sea that you had to get a little boat to. It was a really cool day.
