Hi everybody. (Hi Dr. Nick! (Simpsons joke parents!!)
Unfortunately, Melbourne is our last stop in Australia and the best country we have visited so far. We have been here for 10days now. The 1st 4 days and the last 2 in the city and in between St Kilda. Which is a beach just south of Melbourne CBD.
The hostel we stayed in St Kilda was by far the best of our travels. It was dead clean and modern and had a comfy common area. Here we just chilled out and relaxed on the beach most days as after leaving Sydney we have been pretty much none stop. We met up with Jon who was on my course at uni. This was a good night out, it was ladies night so Hannah got free drinks untill 11 (needless to say she got her "money's" worth.) The other nights we went to the neighbours night like mentioned in the other blog. THe 2nd night wasnt quite the same but was free and Paul Robinson was there!!
There is so much to do in the CBD but we decided to leave for St Kilda after spending loads on all the attractions and sites. They were all really good. The Aquarium just opened an antartica section with King Pengiuns and the shark feed was amazing, although the sharks didnt really eat much it was mainly the HUGE stingrays (seriously huge) and the turtles. We went to the Prison where Ned Kelly was hung and got a play and a look round where all the prisoners were kept. This was really interesting and we also went to the Library where his actual armour was kept (its valued ay $7million). Everything is huge over here, this library was actually bigger than heath and reach it was massive!! We went to the Victoria Markets which again were huge. Had the nicest donuts you can ever imagine! The immigration museum was really interesting and we went to the parliment building, which, you guessed it, was huge! We are meeting up with the OZ guys we met in Thailand tonight so we've always had so much to do in the 10days.
All in all Melbourne is a great city and as with the rest of our OZ experience we have loved every minute of it. Everything we have done has been amazing yet so so different. Obviously were off to New Zealand next but only for 1month instead of the orignal 2. THis is so we can spend more time (and less money) in South America. Its pretty cold over there, the north island 22-24 and the south 14-17. Chilly stuff, although im sure its still warmer than back home. Both looking forward to that as all we have heard is good things about the country.
Hope all is well and let us know when you get our postcards. With love from Rich and Hannah x
