India and Nepal 2022
Once again, I have done two blogs today to reflect the diversity of the experiences I have had. There are some sights which quite literally take your breath away and catching my first view of the mighty Himalayan range did just that. Totally awesome in every way! Nargakot is the perfect place to see the Himalayan range including glimpses of the Annapurnas in the west, along past Manaslu, Langtang, Gauri Shankar to the Everest region in the east. Through a partially misty skyline, I could even make out the distinctive shape of Mount Everest itself with its sister peaks Lhotse and Nupse. I stayed for quite a while just taking in what must be the most fantastic panorama anywhere on earth. How lucky am I today? It makes me want to come back and do some trekking in the mountains of the Himalaya in the next year or two. On the walk up to the viewpoint, I got chatting to an elite group of army commando trainers who are based here. Not a set of lads to mess with but we had a good conversation about my age, Colchester garrison and the Gorkha regiment. I cannot really put into words the majesty of these mighty Himalayan peaks. It is not just something to see but something to feel emotionally and spiritually moved by. Photos to follow
