Hey everyone..... Ria here...... sorry havnt updated this journal in over a week, we havnt had free internet access since we left Phuket and as we are on a budget we couldnt afford to fork out 50p to use an internet cafe (only kidding!!!) Back in Bangkok now, flew here at 6 this morning (nice quick 45 min flight from koh samui) but ill tell u all about our 3 day stint in Koh Samui. We left Koh Pha Ngan on wednesday (Think bens told u bout our 3 days there!!!) caught a ferry across, took bout 40mins and jumped in a little posh mini bus which took us to our hostel- The Moonlight Hotel in Chaweng. Ben had tried to prepare me for the worst as this place was the cheapest we'd booked and only had a fan instead of the air-con like we've got ourselves used to!! Anyway, as we were whizzing thru the resort i spotted the hotel and pointed it out to Ben, sayin how it looked quite nice and that there was no need to have been a bit apprehensive, all the while, we were driving further and further away from it, until ben realised wot was happening and screamed at the driver to stop- right outside a really posh hotel. As we got out a porter from this hotel rushed to take our bags, but soon stopped as he realised we were backpackers (wouldnt want to degrade the place now, would we!!!) Anyway we checked into our room and it couldnt have been nicer, really clean and a minibar (and a tv for Ben-peace at last) The hostel wasnt really in the thick of the nightlife but it was a nice location and only took bout 20mins to walk into the centre. Spent the whole time on the beach (6km of gorgeous, white sand) lazing around and trying to be polite to the hundreds of Thais trying to sell us loads of things- we did give into the icecream man a few times and ben bought a pair of 'real' billabong boardies. Found a British run hostel which made the nicest bacon and egg sandwiches which proper british bacon, so we ate a few of those. We do think our stomachs have shrunk thou, cuz we cant eat 3 meals a day at the mo, 2 are even a struggle. I gave into Ben one night and so we went to watch the footie in a bar, had a few cocktails and a jug of sangria then followed that with an indian-really nice. Id been desperate to watch a lady-boy show, much to Bens disgust (he wud have rathered go to the strip club-which was being advertised by these tarted up thai girls-have the fotos to prove it1) but we just happend to stumble on one and it was hilarious (we'll add the fotos as soon as we can) Ben seemed to be enjoying himself a little too much i think, especially wen he has his head squashed between a lady/mans fake chest-not a pretty sight. All in all, the 3 days was spent relaxing, didnt go around the island as we were happy to chill before we start our 22 day tour later on today. Koh Samui was great, good night life and not as many israelis as Koh Pha Ngan, and the room didnt smell as much either. Not too sure wen ull hear from us next as we are setting off as proper backpackers to see the rest of thailand and then malaysia ending up in singapore.
