Hi everyone, quick update to fill you in about our latest whereabouts since we left Bangkok(for good) on Sunday. We caught yet another overnight train to our most hated place- Surathani, before getting picked up by truck to be taken to Khao Sok National Park, our home for the next 2 nights. We stayed in a place called Arts Riverside Lodge which was located along the side of the river on the outskirts of the park amongst the trees. We slept in little wooden bungalows about 10ft above the floor-simple but quite nice, wooden shutters as windows and only cold water. Only downside to staying in the middle of the forest was the amount of animals which wanted to join us, our room was full of mossies, ants, spiders and lizards plus everytime you lifted the toilet seat, you'd be greeted by a mass of leeches and giant ants. We were lucky though, Laura and Shelley the girls next to us had to cope with a giant spider.
We went swimming in the river the 1st day, which was great, but the current was soooo strong, real challenge to swim back. Ben enjoyed the rope swing which was attached to the cliff above us. A group of us went tubing down the river which was really fun, except for wen u dont judge the height of the water right like me who smacked my bum on a rock. Ben crashed into some trees and scratched al his back, but it was worth it!!! The next day we booked to go elephant riding again, unfortunately, the rain started again during the night and everywhere was practically flooded again. The elephant ride was ok, but the weather really spoiled it, we were drenched, couldnt wait to get off it. Our elephant was really well behaved, we think he was quite old. The girls' elephant decided to start going mad and suddenly charged down the river, girls were petrified when they saw that the guide was stuggling to get him back under control.
We were meant to go walking in the park in the afternoon but the rain didnt ease off and we really didnt want to walk in wet clothes again so we spent the afternoon sitting in the bar with the girls eating, playing cards, reading and drinking lots of tea!!!!
We left for Krabi (the beach-finally!!!) early the next morning, and thats where we are now. Fill you in on the place next time because we havent done much yet and we are gutted cuz theres no sun! Havnt seen any since Koh Samui 2 weeks ago, the tan is fading!!!! Crossing the border into Malaysia on Saturday so we will catch up then. Hope everyone is doing well xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
