Peter Hickman now officially the fastest motorcycle racer in the world following his record breaking lap of 135.492mph in the IOM Senior TT on the last day of racing in 2018.
For me the day began slowly following a very late night writing these blogs until 3am but knowing it was the final day of racing I arose and readied myself to visit Quarter bridge to watch todays two races.
The first race proved again the dominance of the Birchell brothers as they won todatys event to back up their win earlier in the week and cement their names also into racing history by not only winning but being holders of the outright lap record for sidecars.
One expects to struggle to get a good vantage point at any of the race days but especially on Senior TT day. However I went from wow a park for the motorcycle less then 100ms from the track to "thanks Good"a front row seat at Quarter bridge in fact the numbers never rose above 44 persons all day.
So settled in with my race on trackside broadcast, my own sweets, fruit and drinks I soon teamed up with an American lady from Arizona who was here for her firstever TT visit and firstever time at a motorcycle race. No she and friends had planned it and she does ride pillion.
Bo being the gentleman that I am I gave her a front row seat on top of the Marshall's container so affording her a great view of riders making both left and right turns, abeit for seconds only.
drama was never far away with the lead bike breaking and dropping oil on the track.
However Dean Harrison took no prisioners and lead the race right up ntil the final decent of the Mountain and the run back into Glenclutchery Road when an absolutely flying lap by peter Hickman saw him take the lead and hold it o the Finish line.
He lap time of 135.492 is now officially recorded as the fatest lap ever at the TT and incidently Dean Harrison also set the second fastest lap ever on his final lap as he tried in vain to hold onto the lead. Dean Harrison had also tasted vistory earlier in the week winning one of the supersports races.
Peter Hickman was mounted on the Smith's racing BMW SS1000RR.
He also had earlier in the week won the superstock race.
Third place went to the local "gentle Giant"Manxman Conor Cummins, best known as Titianium Man due to the amount of rods, screws and plates in his body to hold him together most of which came from an excursion at high speed off the top of the mountain in 2010.
Fourth place was Michael Dunlop but he maybe disappointed with that result but he did win 3 other races over the week.
Fifth place was Australian Josh Brooks on an Aprillia powered Norton.
While these men will celebrate their results other families are still reflecting on death No 255 Dan Kneen and death number 256 Adam Lyon since 1907 when the races at the world's deadlyist track first occured but this will not stop them racing in 2019 for the 100th actual race nor will it deter the fans from flocking to the Isle of Man TT races.
I know if it was possible I would be there in 2019 for the 100th watching these world class riders on actual roads.

Tom Stevenson Christopher "drama was never far away with the lead bike breaking and dropping oil on the track."?, what does that refer to? First bike off the start in the Senior?, or a previous race? See you there next year? Tom
Greg Lane RIP Dan Kneen and Adam Lyon. Well raced.
