Let the water and the blood"" is a line from that well respected Hymn Rock of Ages and it could no better describe a place on earth the Gibraltar.
I had travelled from Cabo da Roca the most Western point on mainland Europe to visit an still functioning outpost of the British Empire.
My plan was to actually ride the motorcycle into Gibraltar by crossing the main and only runway of Gibraltar International Airport.
There were numerous internet blogs saying No, long ques over 3hours, over zealous Customs Officers on both the Spanish and the British checkpoints.
We knew that parking was possible just outside the border and also no buses from near our Hotel so off we rode and just 2 cars were in the line and they cleared before we stopped. I was asked for my passport and without even removing my helmet I was told to go and rode off now in Gibraltar.
We rode around for a while and located parking which like Spain is free for motorcycles. We changed into comfortable footwear ditched the jackets, covereed the bikes and set off via the touts to purchase our own cable car tickets for the 6minute 412m ride up to The Rock.
Great photo's were taken, a coffee, postcards written and posted at The Top Rock Cafe and on command the resident Monkey appeared for its shift and posed.
I journeyed down and while Greg & Kerrie visited a laundry I walked the harbour front and then Main Street. As it was lunchtime and I was in a British Colony it was The Angry Friar Pub and a hearty meal of fish and chips complete with brown sauce and half a pint.
That completed a brisk walk armed with the trusty camera saw Main Street completed and a photographic record of the Rock completed.
The journey back was interupted with a visit to a roadside Travel Agent and the aquisition of a very important Customs declaration for the passage of the Triumph to another first, this time a visit to the Africian Continent. So it will be farewell Europe Hello Africa.
My night hopefully will be much more peaceful after last night which ended in a screaming match late at night between the guest in the room next to mine,me and the Hotel Night Manager over the whinging barking dog in their room.
Tonight I have changed rooms to actually what I ordered a room with a double bed, a fully furnished baloney with pool views. Unfortunately the pool is closed due tto the lare amount of kids attendeding as happened last night a series of confirmation parties which means us poor guests come second.

Laura The adventure continues and is well documented in this blog and beautiful supported in the photographic record you have put together ...... going to Africa will be interesting and something to look forward to .......guests leaving a dog locked in their hotel room to bark and whine is unbelievable and exceptionable to other guests....altercations are unpleasant but on some occasions unavoidable ......."The Angry Friar Pub" Just the name would get you in the door....good food ....the bonus ......
