Thursday
After breakfast we headed into Patong beach for a look around . Looks like a nice beach - pretty quiet as far as waves goes but they do jet skiing there so I think we are going to go back next week and do that .
The one that is hard to miss here is that the whole of the island has been taken over by the Russians. Most signs at shops and restaurants are also in Russian. Not seen many Aussies here though there would be a lot too. The one thing about Russians us that they live up to the reputation as not being very friendly compared to the other Europeans we have met . Very serious but very dismissive with no attempt to start up a conversation. Getting a hello out of then is like pulling teeth!
Anyway after a look at Patong beach we went shopping down the beach road till we got to Bangla Road. You can just see how loud and out there this street is at night and looking forward to having a night in here just so we can see it for ourselves .
The afternoon was spent back at our pool and planning our days. We stayed for happy hour at the pool -2 for 1 drinks so we had a couple of cocktails as you do.
Lacey is still feeling crook with tonsillitis so we're hoping she'll get over it soon.
Friday 21st
Headed off on a full day tour of the islands. Got picked up at 7.15 and headed to the other side of the island to meet the boat. Took 90 mins to reach our first Island which was Bamboo island. Not many boats there so plenty of space on the beach and to snorkel.
Saw some nice fish and Lacey got to try out her under water camera that she bought just before coming over here. We had an hour there before lunch on the boat and heading to our next island.
We did not go to the beach at this one which was Maya Bay and just snorkelled off the back of the boat. More fish here than the last place . Pat saw a small shark too.
Stayed an hour here before heading off again. We were supposed to head to Phi phi Don but a huge storm was blowing in so I think we went to Krabi instead. By the time we got off the boat it was pouring so we had an ice cream at a restaurant and headed back on board before we started the trip back. Took hour and half on the boat and another in the shuttle bus so we were all pretty stuffed before we got home.
Kara's friends have arrived today so we have arranged to meet up with them tomorrow.
