Tuesday Went to the beach early in the morning - surf was a bit safer than the previous day but the beach itself was a pigsty. For the past 10 days the ASEAN beach games have been held here and they have left a huge mess that has been floating out to sea so the beach is covered in all sorts of crap from the games. Most of it is things they have used for markers etc. really hope they get down there and pick it up before it washes out to sea. Really spoiling this ...

Sunday 22nd Spent this day with Kara's friends family and hired a van and driver to take us around the island. Headed first to Kata lookout which gave us a great view of where we are staying at Karon and the west coastline From there headed to Promtherp cape which is right at the bottom of the island. Thursday After breakfast we headed into Patong beach for a look around . Looks like a nice beach - pretty quiet as far as waves goes but they do jet skiing there so I think we are going to go back next week and do that . The one that is hard to miss here is that the whole of the island has been taken over by the Russians. Most signs at shops and restaurants are also in Russian.
