After arriving in Saigon yesterday we had a quick walk around our block in Bui Vien street. This is the backpacker tourist area so lots of restaurants and westerners. They also warn about pickpockets and bag snatchers here so we are being a bit more cautious here then other places we have been. We had dinner and then went and sat at one of the other bars on street and just watched the people and had a few beers. Was really interesting just watching everything go...

Thursday 30 Oct Left Hue by private car for the 3 hr drive to Hoi An. Arrived at our hotel which was certainly a downgrade from Hue - comfortable but definitely budget compared to my other choices. Anyway after settling in we went looking for a tailor that I had found on TripAdvisor. The town has around 1000 tailors and there are just rows of them in every street. Looks like a nice quiet little place but definitely popular with Aussies as they are everywhere....

Early start for a full day tour of Hue and some of the key highlights of the town. The first stop was at Mang Ma tomb - one of the 3 Emperor's tombs we were to visit on the tour. Quite a large area with different temples on the grounds . The actual burial place has been lost as its on the mountain behind a locked wall. Got woken up at about 5 this morning by Pat telling me the power was off and that there was an alarm going off in the building. She was worried there was a fire. But if a concern but the power came back on and the alarm stopped so must have been ok. We get picked up by our driver from Hue just before 8am and started our trip to Hue up over the Hai Van pass which is a mountainous winding road. They have built a tunnel which has cut the time off the trip a bit but...
