The Flight time from Perth to AdelIde is three hours which together with a two and a half time difference meant that we picked up our campervan at about 3.30pm. We decided to head straight out to McLaren Vale wine country and found a great camp site. Australian camp sites often seem to offer private bathrooms on your pitch complete with shower - very nice.
We went shopping to stock up on supplies, unpacked all that we will need for the next twelve nights and bought an Austrailian SIM card so that we can keep in touch then off to bed feeling that we had achieved a lot.
There are so many vineyards offering cellar door tastings in this area but we decided just to visit one and opted for Rosemont Estate as we often drink their wines at home. A great experiance and we stocked up with a few bottles for our road trip. A local had recommended driving down Sellicks beach so we diverted to drive on the sand beside the impossibly blue sea.
As usual we don't have a master plan but will stop as and when the fancy takes us. So after a quick stop at Victor Harbour and lunch at Robe we rolled into Mount Gambier. There is so much to see and do here that we plan on stopping for two nights.
