I arrived in Sydney just before Christmas and moved in with my friend Ryan (who I travelled with in Vietnam). We are living in Darlinghurst which is really good and central...20 mins walk to the city and 20 mins to Bondi which is cool. Sydney is a fantastic City and really fun. Went to the harbour to watch the fireworks for NYE which were AMAZING. Not much to report though unfortuantely as have mainly just been job hunting and on the beach!!! Bye for now!xxx

After a really great time in Western Australia it was time to make my way to Sydney for Christmas, New Year and job hunting!! It was a shame to leave Billabongs hostel (which had been my base in Perth since I'd arrived in Oz) as it was really fun and met lots of great people there. I was excited about heading to Sydney though and was looking forward to getting in to a flat share and a break from hostel living for a while!! I decided to get the Indian Pacific...

Before heading to Sydney I visited Rottnest Island with my friend Mike...unfortunately I don't have any photos as both our cameras were out of battery (nice planning!) Rottnest is located 19k's off the coast of Fremantle (just south of Perth) and has lots of beautiful bays, beaches and lakes. You only need a couple of days there max so we just went for the day and hired bikes to explore the island.

The next trip on the cards was south to Albany via Margaret River (wine country...my kinda country!) and we had a great time. We visited a couple of vineyards for wine tastings, went to the Valley of the Giants and saw some amazing coastline.  

November/ Dec 2006 After picking up our 4WD and our basic food supplies we hit the open road excited about the adventure ahead!!!...unfortuantely the classic combo of an out of date map and my awesome sense of direction meant that we had to pull into a camping supply store (technially only about 20 mins out of Perth City centre in the suburbs!!!) to ask for directions...and a better map! The guys in the shop gave us loads of useful and encouraging hints like.......
