Colleen & Tom's Explorations
After our Danish brekky today we set off to the railway station where we found a post office, to buy postcard stamps. Then we bought our ticket to Malmo and also our ticket to the airport for a couple of days time.
It took only 40 minutes to get to Malmo, going into a tunnel as we leave the Danish coastline then popping up onto a man-made island where the bridge starts. We walked around Malmo for about 5 hours. Their castle was very unusual - red brick!! The shopping centre was delightful. In this town they had pot mits with Pippi Longstocking on them!! (Astrid Lindgren was Swedish). There were market stalls as well as big glossy shops - the girls would've loved it here. We ran into the Queensland family at the markets!!
We caught the train back just after one. After a quick freshen up in our room we walked to the Carlsberg Brewery. It was one of Tom's "short" walks - the map wasn't accurate. By the time we got there I was exhausted - the arches of my feet were hurting, my crook knee was playing up and walking with my tumour was arduous. I decided to stop kidding myself and declined to do the tour, electing instead to meet Tom at the bar where the self-guided tour ended. If you do this tour you get 2 free drinks. The man at the bar wouldn't let me pay for my lager, not even when Tom went over to buy me a different beer. Tom did the one-hour tour in 15 minutes!! After enjoying our ales we caught the bus back to Central Station (what luxury!!). Whilst we were at the station we had dinner at all-you-can-eat pizza and salad for K55 each ($11!!!).
We returned to our hotel room where Tom watched TV while I slept and slept.
