Colleen & Tom's Explorations
Today we slept in until next door's alarm went off at 6.50am!! We had breakfast in the Lido, then the Captain announced that Longyearbyen was expecting snow storms with 50 knot winds, making anchoring, and therefore tendering, impossible. So we motored up to their harbour, turned around and left!! We motored out really slowly so we could enjoy the stunning and desolate views.
Whilst we were on deck a man offered to take our photo - he turned out to be the harp player and was born in Southport Hospital on the Gold Coast!!! Then I went inside to buy the little Dior perfume collection and found that Sophie, the lovely perfume girl who had the makeup demonstration done on her yesterday, comes from Bowral!! I went down and checked the emails from the girls after getting a revised program for the day.
We had a lovely roast ham lunch in the Caronia after playing the pub trivia quiz with cocktails at 12 noon. We did really well - 10/12!! We were joined by a lovely Canadian couple (who knew 1 answer that we didn't).
After lunch we listened to the talk on Northern Norway in the Grand Lounge, followed a little later by a concert by the harpist from the Gold Coast, which was wonderful.
After a nap we decided on an informal dinner in the Lido, then sat and read by the Queens Room whilst energetic couples waltzed and tangoed!
