Colleen & Tom's Explorations
Today is our turn to shed the cloak of bliss that we have been enveloped in. *sigh* But it is not raining, so we should be on track for our canoe breakfast! Our canoe breakfast arrived just after 8am - FAR too much for us to eat, and accompanied by a flower lei for Tom and a garland for my head, like a crown. Huge production by the very friendly and accommodating staff. I can include a couple of photos, but when I return home in about 36 hours, I will attach a movie or two. I took the flower garlands to the people from Melbourne in the next bungalow - their teenage daughters loved them (I couldn't bear to throw them out, and they are impractical to take with us). At about 12 noon a man in a trolley came along and took our luggage for us and we took our leave from our bungalow and went to reception to sort the bill, and wait for our transfer to the ferry. No problems as we commence our homeward bound journey, with shell leis around our necks! I hope we can get them into Australia! Five minutes before our departure transfer was due to take us down to the ferry terminal, the yellow bus turned up with Marie - our tour guide from the other day, and also the hostess on our transfer when we arrived in Moorea, so we wandered over - she said no, kissed me on the cheek and said another bus will be here to take us, and proceeded to take her incredibly wonderful garland of flowers off her head and put it on mine! And then drove away! So here I am with another beautiful garland of flowers on my head! Five minutes later another yellow bus turns up and takes us to the ferry terminal, not 10 minutes down the road. The ferry was a different company to the one coming over. It was much bigger and newer. We were amazed when we got to Tahiti to see a petrol tanker roll off, along with many other trucks, and pineapples! A man was waiting with our name on a sign. He was Japanese, but has been living here for 29 years (married to a Tahitian woman, says he is a prisoner!). So our transfer to the Radisson was seamless and easy. The Radisson started well, with a free upgrade to a room with a jacuzzi. What was even better was that we had a separate shower! Unlike the one we had on the way over when you had to climb up into the bathtub and out again to have a shower. I am sure it is very dangerous. I know I felt vulnerable and precarious. We wandered around the lovely grounds that front on to the beach and found their poolside bar offering finger food and half price cocktails, so we thought we'd make that our dinner. They brought one of our snacks but not the other. It was to be tortilla chips with guacamole, and we saw two other plates arrive, but given to other people. When we queried it, they said there were to be no more snacks because they were doing a BBQ instead. But we had already paid! So the manager came over and attempted to explain, but we insisted we receive a refund for the food that never arrived. I guess we shall see tomorrow. We decided against the second drink. We went up to reception to find the login name for the password they gave us, and found that we cannot use the Internet in our room for free, only in reception. So we sat and caught up with the goings info the universe, before then returning to our room and logging on using the other password that I still had from the previous hotel :)
