Colleen & Tom's Explorations
Well, what can I say?? We rose at 5.30am because we needed to be fed and showered and ready to go on our tour at 7.30am. When we went to breakfast we saw that the seas were very rough and we were nowhere near land!! Tom and I st by the window down on Level 2 and were amazed at the wild waves.
The commodore announced that we were sailing in hurricane conditions and that we could not go ashore at Sydney today, nor at Corner Brook tomorrow as the conditions would only get worse. So we just continued powering through the wild seas with winds of 55 knots gusting up into the 60s and 70s. We may be able to visit one of those ports on our way back. The waves were 25-30 feet high!!!
We headed straight for Quebec and as soon as we turned toward the Gulf of St Lawrence (about 4pm) the seas became remarkably calm.
I was happy to be able to go on the internet and access my hotmail account where I was pleased to find news from my girls. It cost $18 but was certainly worth every cent to put my mind at ease.
Tom went to a talk by a visiting author on the great liners of the world.
After dinner we paid to watch "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind". No we didn't - Tom had the controls and accidentally ordered "Jersey Girl" - which I really enjoyed.
