Colleen & Tom's Explorations
Wow - what a sight when we awoke!! We can finally see little islands covered in forests, and seals popping their heads up alongside the ship. the whoe area is just soooo serene, sooooo beautiful, so quiet as we slowly, quietly motored along the Inside Passage. We also saw lovely waterfalls and bald-headed eagles, and many snow covered mountains.
We arrived at Juneau around lunch-time and then went on a tour to the Mendenhall Glacier (didn't get as close as I would've liked), and the Salmon Hatchery, which was interesting.
After that we went shopping. We were going to go up the mountain on the tramway but it was $20/adult and $10/child, we we gave it a miss.
During dinner Jess developed really bad hives - couldn't sit still, so I took her to the medical office where Dr Kenny (from South Africa) checked her out. He gave her a steriod tablet and a course of cortisone to clear it up. Tom, Shannon and I went to Trivia Nigh and met a lovely lady from Alabama (Clare), then we watched the ship pulling out from Juneau.
