Stayed here for just 2 days. There nothing to do at night. During the daytime we got bicycles out and road through the countryside. Its like Halong bay only in-land. Got some good photos if I can get a chance to post them. Tam Coc and Trang An were the best places we went to.

Just made my way out of a major disaster zone! Got the train on fri night to Sapa. It stopped half way there at a town called Yen Bai in North Vietnam, just as the worst flash floods are about to hit that area in years!About 100 people were killed and more missing. The sleeper train stopped about 1am in the morning. At that time I could see the tracks outside- when I woke up after 6am, getting ushered off the train, I couldnt see the tracks with flood water. Went on a 3 day boat around Halong Bay - spectacular scenary. One of the old James Bond films was made here. Have alot of photos of it on Facebook - Im finding it easier to put the photos on face book. Im taking the train north tonight to Sapa, near the border with China. Been in Hanoi now for 3 days and its been non-stop fun! The traffic out here is absolutley crazy - 10 times worse than Bangkok or Chiang Mai. They dont seem to have any rules. They drive on the footpath, thru redlights and on the wrong side of the road. Crossing the road is always a mission - u just have to walk out around the traffic!
