Well people, what to say.....?
I've been incredibly idle over the past nine days in a place called varkala on kerela's western coast. The place is so easy to be in and yet has the devious ability to swallow you when you least expect it. My original plan had been to stay for three or four days just to get my head together but after nine days i feel it's actually time to move on..... Life here may be a little less eventfull than on the road but it certainly is pleasent....
My average day consists of a leisurly breakfast with a book, possibly a swim in the waves then meet with some or another friend(s) to drink cold beers and generally while away the days. In a way, like a sunny version of ambleside this place is a bubble upon which the outside world rairly infringes and yet the world inside becomes ever so more important. It's nice to have a town know who you are; for the people i like, to call my name and for the people i don't, not to bother.
Also, despite my previous grumblings about other tourists and travelers, india has seemed to throw my way a few sound westerners whom it has been a refreshing change to hang out with. All in all, this past few days has felt like a holiday within a holiday and a much apreciated one at that.
Now, however, is definately the time to leave.... i have'nt seen anything truly unusual in days!! I think i'm gonna go and bob around on a boat or two in the much raved about kerelan backwaters... we shall see??
