Left Djenne yesterday after a tour of the city, dusty town on the bank of Bani river. Highlights were the mud mosque and seeing a women*s cooperative where they make local fabrics. Also managed to buy a piece of fabric and a necklace from the monday market. We visited our Mali guide*s mother*s village Bandassi where tourists are rarely seen and felt like celebrities with the kids surrounding us. Gosh they love to have their picture taken. Also came across the cutest baby donkey and knowing me, had to give it some affection. Arrived in Bandiagara around dusk and set up our mosquito nets for another night of roof camping. Really into that! Amazing to go to sleep seeing the stars and feeling the breeze. Not that it exactly gets cool at any point. Heading down the escarpment in a bit so need to get going. Three days of insane sweating and being filthy.
