Tonight we ate at 'Lucy's place' just behind West Street on Gui Hua Road. We found it via a recommendation on Trip Advisor. Our dinner was gorgeous, Yang Zhou rice & Lemon Chicken followed by a banana fritter and banana crumble. The crumble was just the best so I found out what the secret ingredients were - milk powder and oats! Must try this at home. As we found this place via trip adviser, I also added my own review and photograph to help keep the customers coming for her!

Overview of Yangshuo

We both really enjoyed this part of the trip. The scenery around Guilin was good. Around Yangshuo it is gorgeous. Riding on the raft yesterday I mentally pinched myself a couple of times because it wad so beautiful. I've never imagined myself on this type of trip or in this kind of environment so to be here is just awesome. Its clear why the Guilin and Yangshuo areas are so popular with both international and domestic tourists alike.
The other side of Yangshuo is a bit like Blackpool on heat!

The west street is buzzing every night and has more neon than Piccadilly Square. Shops bars and restaurants are bountiful. It's busy and noisy and there is an element of 'the battle of the bands' going on, just like we saw in the Hou Hai lake area of Beijing - as every bar and club is trying to grab your attention.
The Chinese are excellent entertainers with good humor. It seems to me that they are also excellent at extracting dollars out of your wallet in the tourist spots. Although there is no sign of discrimination, both westerners and domestic tourists are treated to the same lively time in the party town of Yangshuo.
