We left the Cameron Highlands today (4 of us from the Fathers guest house) and caught a bus at 2.30 which left at 3pm. It arrived in Penang at about 9pm. The bus driver lied to us about the bus ending in Gergetown...it stopped about 25km away from where we needed to be! It was raining heavy and we were miles away- it was lucky for us that people in Malaysia speak excellent english as some locals told us what bus to catch- which cost 2RM (taxi would have cost a fortune!). We got to georgetown at about 10.30- this random local on the bus was really helpful and came over to help us and told us when to get off the bus and gave us directions to out hostel- its really nice when a local genuinely helps you- if this was to happen in Thailand- it would be a scam!!!

We stayed in 75 travellers lodge, which is OK. nothing special and the owner is friendly. That night we went out to get food and walked around the town. There are beggers here which I hadnt seen anywhere else in Malaysia.
