Having woken up at some unearthly hour, we were waiting in some poor excuse of a line to check in. Eventually we made it to a check in desk, where we all handed over our passports and tickets. The guy checking us in took his time going through it all, then eventually asked if Mr Robinson was actually booked on this flight, having questioned the fact Mr Robinson's name on his ticket was actually spelt Robbinson. Before Dan had noticed this and was assured by Quantas it would not be a problem. Apparently they lied!! 2 hours later we were still stood there waiting for them to change his entire ticket to let him through, as just letting him through would be a serious security breach, however to change his name the only security question he was asked was his phone number- which he got wrong!!! Eventually we were all checked in, but the 2 hour wait had been completely pointless, as they were unable to change his ticket at all and that bloody extra b is still there!!
We then had to run through to get our bags checked, when Dan again gets pulled to one side and asked to open his bag. (The first thing I had said to Dan that morning was to make sure he didnt have any liquids in his hand luggage.) So they pull out 2 bottles of sun cream, some after sun and some insect repellent, all of which gets chucked into a bin! Eventually we made it on to the plane and it wasnt long before we were up in the air.
At take off we were advised the flight may be a little bumpy and there may well be a slight detour to avoid the cyclone western oz was currently experiencing. The flight itself wast too bad, the decent however, was a tad bumpy, however, when the girl next to me pulled out her sick bag we all turned a pale shade of green!!
Landing in Perth we got through passport control without a hitch and even through the most thorough customs any off us had ever seen. - They really don't want you sneaking in any kind of food!!
We arrived at Ben and Eds to be welcomed by a somewhat confused housemate who apparently didnt know we were coming and they were all at work!! She kindly let us in and it wasnt long till everyone was back and we were all heading off to a pizza place, where you brought you own booze. The 6 of us turned up with 6 bottles of wine and sheepishly asked for them to be put in the fridge. Thankfully the waitress didnt bat an eye lid, she did however, laugh as we soon stopped asking for one bottle and moved on to 2 or 3.
With everyone having work the next day it wasnt a late one, so we were soon tucked up in bed!
The following morning we headed out into the local town, freo, but were shocked at how cold it was. It turned out to only be 21 degrees!! We then went on search of food for the BBQ we had planned for later. We came across a butchers and Dave and Dan were like kids in a candy shop! Eventually they settled for some unusual sausages and a slab of crocodile!
The BBQ went down really well, which is more than can be said for the crocodile, as I think several people are still chewing there's!!
Today we went into Perth where we wondered around looking for possible accommodation, but couldn't find anywhere. We came across a guy who organised trips up north to Ningaloo, seeing we were at a lose end he talked us into booking a place leaving tomorrow. So tomorrow we start our climb up north to explore the deserts and corals and everything it has to offer!!
