Rachel's Eurotrip
Just got back from Cordoba for the weekend. It was a lot of fun! It seemed like a typical Andulasian town, smaller than sevilla, but very similiar. Cordoba is basically known for 2 things: The Mezquita and the Juderia.
The Mezquita is a HUGE islamic mosque, like serioulsy a couple city blocks long. They say it is the most important Islamic monument in the western world. I guess that would explain why it was 8 euros to enter!! Even if you are a student. And due to the budget nature of this excursion, we opted just to look at the outside, considering we wouldnt much know what we were looking at if we did go inside.
The juderia is the jewish area. It has a ton of remnants of the jews that used to live there (expelled as were all jews in spain). Cordoba has 1 of the 3 remaining synogoges in the entire iberian peninsula. We went to it. Look at the pictures. It was very small but still cool. Cordoba also has this monument to Maimonides, who worshipped in the above synogoge. I dont know much about him, but I know the name and hes pretty famous in the jewish world.
My first hostel experience went quite well. We somehow managed to find our hostel, on this back allyway, because it was the name that we had heard our friends stayed at. It seemed to be a large house converted into a hostel, and it was just run by a husband and wife. It was really nice for so cheap (15 euro a person). Had towels and bedding and it was just cute!
Look at the pics for more on the things we saw, it was a cute city a good day trip from sevilla, or spend the night like we did if you wanna experience the night life!
