we caught the ferry over to phi phi island which we were excited about. heard great things about the place and beaches. it was bigger than i thought, and when we got off the ferry it was like walking through a maze, with all the little shops etc. eventually we found a great place called tropical gardens bungalow. managed to get 100b knocked off the price. our bungalow has lots of character... its on stilts, mattresses on the floor with mozzie nets over them, hammock on our balcony and a bathroom which feels like its outdoors, with its concrete stone floor, and wooden gapey walls. back to cold showers again, and sleeping with the bugs... heard lots of interesting sounds during the night, and saw a millipede crawling by our heads which freaked us out! every night we had thunderstorms and heavy rain. so heavy, i couldnt hear sarah speak over it! (and thats saying something!)
the beaches are nice with shallow water, we hired a sunbed and relaxed. has a good atmosphere on the evening, with fire shows to watch.
we also did a boat trip which took us around the island for lots of snorkelling. the visibility was great and saw lots of colourful rainbow fish, angel fish, a puffer fish etc. really enjoyed it. we stopped off at bamboo island which would have looked beauitful had the sun been out, not the best of weather today, very cloudy. went round some other islands which also included maya bay (where the beach was filmed) very beautiful but very crowded which kind of ruins it. to be expected though i guess. really enjoyed the boat trip and seeing all the stunning cliffs and inlets with bright green water. had to come back from the trip early though as a thunderstorm was approaching. missed out on going to see the monkeys on monkey beach. had to walk back to our accomodation in the rain...
rest of the time on the island we chilled on the beach. wanted to do some kayaking but the heat is too much for strenuous activity!
