our next stop was the party island of koh pha ngan, famed for its full moon parties (we avoided it though!) we were a little lost at first, not realising the ferry had dropped us further up the island than we had asked for! had to get a mini bus to where we wanted to go. we are staying in the haad rin area at coral bunglalows (known for its pool party) the pool is nice though the beach its situated on is awful!! we are not far from another beach (the one the full moon party is held on) but even that beach is nothing spectacular. only paying about 3 pounds each a night for air con and hot water so thats good.
had a look around town, lots of nice little shops. spent some time round the pool. the sunsets are lovely to watch over the sea.
on saturday, sarah and i went our own ways for the day. i wanted to do a day trip to ang thong marine park, and sarah wanted to do a tour around the island. was a really good day out. our speed boat took us around some of the 40 or so islands. very scenic. stopped for some snorkelling, and to visit the emerald lake. had lunch on a beautiful beach with soft powder white sand and clear waters. lastly we did some kayaking around one of the islands, under an overhang and through a cave. was really good fun.
back at our resort, sarah convinced me to have a thai massage! wish she hadnt!! was the most painful thing ever! they really knead into you, pull your toes and fingers till they click, yank you right back till your backbone makes a cracking sound.. ouch! was not relaxing. thought i was gonna cry out when she was kneading the back of my legs! had to try it, but never again!
they had a pool party whilst we were there, but not many people turned up so it was rubbish!! ended up going back to my room.
not that impressed with this island either so looking forward to moving on...
