We took a boat trip to see some jumping crocodiles. We thought this would be better than going to a crocodile farm because we wanted to see them in their natural habitat, not sedated and in cages. We stood on the upper deck of the boat, hoping the crocs couldn't jump that high, but it was still a bit scary because there was nothing between us and the water. Darwin is a large town (by Australian standards). It is the gateway to Indonesia and Asian countries. In fact it is closer to Indonesia's capital Jakarta than to Canberra. Litchfiled National Park is home to a number of beautiful waterfalls. It is not far from Darwin and most of the good stuff can be accessed by a sealed raod, which we have found is rare in most national parks. We visited four waterfalls; the Wangi falls were large and there was a lot of water because there has been plenty of rain recently. Katherine Gorge was our next stop in Nitmiluk National Park. In the dry season you can canoe and swim up the 13 gorges and the water is clear. As it is the wet season there is an increased chance of saltwater crocodiles because of the higher water level so we took a boat trip of the first gorge.
