After another noisy crowd in the dorm last night, Rachael was desperate to get back into the tent for some peace and quiet. Thankfully, this was the plan... Today we were heading to Byron Bay, another three hours down the coast.
We arrived at 1.00pm in the blazing heat and had to find a campsite. There was one we liked the look of in our guise book but when we rung them they said we couldn't book, we'd just have to turn up on the day. So before we set off, Tom gave them a ring and surprise surprise they were fully booked. We went into the tourist information to ask about campsites in the town and they told us that as it was weekend we would find most places were full. Excellent!
Tom had seen a site on the internet a few days ago which looked nice but quite pricey, but with little option we gave them a ring. They had plenty of room and it was only 5 minutes away, the only downside was the price £22 a night!
The site was more like a resort with holiday apartments in the middle and the camping around the outside. There was a lovely pool and a nice big kitchen and clean bathrooms. We put up the tent and headed to the supermarket.
Earlier that day, we had bumped into two girls we'd shared a dorm with in Cairns so after tea we met up with them for a few drinks and arranged to go for a walk with them tomorrow up to the lighthouse.
