The bus gave us a few hours of broken sleep which was good considering the roads, so we arrived in Pakse as promised at 6.30am. Rachael had here first cold from the trip due to three night in AC..........
Attacked by the tuk-tuk drivers again we left the bus terminus by foot with the hassle every couple of minutes. One mistakenly crossed a tired Rachael and got it in the mouth........
Feeling tried we walked through town and stumbled upon Amy and Mel who we've seen a few times now on our travels. We had breakfast with them and it turns out they're heading straight down to our next destination.
We found a decent room for the night but with not much going on in Pakse and inflated accommodation prices we are only staying the one night. Had a kip to recover from the travelling and awoke around 11.
Today's jobs were cash (easy but they rip you off for it), and the trip south to 4000 islands (easy but they rip you off for it). Getting the cash we looked into alternative routes south, there's a six hour boat which might be a little difficult in low season, and oh yes it seems there's an infamous 3 hour sawngthaew (pick-up with the bench two seats) tomorrow morning, 9km outside of town. It should be two-thirds the price and a lot of fun, on the other hand we might get ripped off and never actually get there! Only tomorrow will tell.
We're not sure the next time we'll upload a blog as Don Det (in the 4000 islands) has only had electricity for 12 months.
