After being woken by the alarm at 1.45am, Tom then commenced to make sure Rachael was awake also by flicking through all the TV channels for the next fifteen minutes trying to find the football! He eventually found it being broadcast on a Laos channel, unfortunately the picture was in black and white and the quality awful, and of course the commentary was in Laos! After a few tears and realising that it was a lost cause we went back to sleep hoping to see a repeat in the morning.
We woke up at about 8.30am and the first thing Tom did was switch the TV back on and flick through the 50 channels for the next two hours trying to find a repeat of the football. There was all the other games from the last week being shown, but no Burnley. Without looking on the BBC website there was no way of knowing the score so we'd catch a re-run at some stage over the next few days.
At 11.30 we checked out at went to buy our bus ticket for tonight. We are getting a sleeper bus to Pakse which we had been promised is "VIP". We left our bags with the man we booked the tickets with, had lunch and used the internet. Tom rang home and the first thing father says is........."hey Burnley won last night", oh well, and Alex is a lazy git who would get out of bed. We spent the rest of the day walking round town eating, drinking and shopping, waiting until we got picked up at 7.00pm for the sleeper bus.
Due to previous experience of "VIP" buses, we were expecting nothing that we had been promised. Thankfully, this time we were proven wrong. We got picked up on time, boarded the air conditioned bus and jumped into our beds, complete with a pillow and duvet. A couple of minutes after setting off we were given bottles of water and cake, half and hour of bad Laos music videos and settled down hoping to get a few hours sleep.
