We turned up at the corner shop nice and early hoping our lift to the bus stop wouldn't consist of us both hanging from the back of a motorbike. We were pleasantly surprised when a fancy Toyota Land Cruiser complete with clean leather seats and air conditioning pulled up!
Arriving at the bus station a little early our ticket was changed so we could get the earlier bus. It arrived within about ten minutes, it was a wreck! As the bus pulled away there was a loud thudding noise coming from the engine. We were in much doubt we would make it to Phonm Penh without a breakdown, but we did!
The plan was to only stay a night in Phonm Penh then move onto Vietnam the next day so we thought we'd just stay in the guesthouse we stayed last time as the staff were nice and the place was pretty clean. Unfortunately, really not sure why, they were no where near a welcoming this time. As returning customers they simply wanted to get us in expensive rooms and use expensive buses. We finally got a room for the same price as previously but it was much more grotty. Anyway......
We saw Amy as we entered so managed to have a quick chat before she went to Sihanoukville. She thinks there maybe a better beach there than we visited, Serendipity, so she was going to have a look.
After a bite to eat, we headed into town for a few drinks and to use the internet. At about 6.00pm it started raining really heavily. We hung around for a while, not wanting to pay for a ride back, thankfully the rain eased up enough for us to set off walking. We chose to eat at a restaurant that we had walked past loads of times on our way into town. It was much nicer than the places we normally go to and because it was out of the main town and not set up for tourists it was really cheap. After tea we headed back out into the rain and returned to the guesthouse for an early night.
