Got up ready for the free tour today. There were only 5 of us doing the tour. We left at 10.30am and headed for Baldwin Beach. We spent about 2 hours here. The beach is beautiful with golden sand and clear blue water. It was a really hot day. Some of the staff from the hostel had come down to the beach as well so they came and joined us. All the staff have been backpackers travelling around and ended up working in the hostel. After we left the beach we went to a historic town called Pa'ia. We stopped for some lunch here. After lunch we went to Ho'okipa Beach to watch the surfers. We were hoping for some windsurfers but there was no wind today so only surfers out in the water. The waves were really big and some of the surfers were actually really good. Some of them start learning to surf at a really young age. We headed back to the hostel around 4.30pm. Tomorrow the tour is a 12 mile hike up the Haleakala Crater which is a dormant volcano. It is 10,023 feet. Apparently it is really hard so I will be giving this a miss tomorrow. I am sure a lot of people will be sore tomorrow.
