Wake up at 10:30 and get showered and finally leave the hostel at 12. We're having breakfast at the restaurant attached to the hostel as we get 10% off for staying there.
After breakfast we walk down Koasan Road and buy lots of things :) everything is so cheap! Hopefully I can fit it all in my bag! Drop our goods off at the hostel and then go out for a really tasty pancake! They're different out here, they start off like dough and then they flatten it out with their hands and spinning a bit like pizza dough and then fry - I will look up how to do this when home! I had a ninnan and Nutella pancake which was amazing!
Go back to the room to get changed into my dress and then walk down our road to get a Tuk Tuk. We manage to get a Tuk Tuk for 100 baht each. On our way in the Tuk Tuk and out driver gets thumbs up from his other Tuk Tuk friends - maybe they have competitions on the weirdest looking customers...?
Arrive at the Lebua hotel and walk through the atrium to the lifts where we are greeted by very lovely dressed people (like in Dubai). They take us to a lift and we ascend to the 64th floor - surprisingly my ears don't hurt in the lift :)
Get out at the top and we are shown through to the Sky bar for drinks. The view is AMAZING and a full panorama of Bangkok. Take lots of photos, although I'm not allowed to take photos on the stairs down to the bar as it's dangerous...
We are handed drinks menus which we choose from. As The Hangover Movie part 2 was filmed here they made a special drink for the cast and crew called a "Hangovertini", I'm not sure what was in it as they didn't share, but I ordered this for 590baht.
Spend about 45 minutes at the Sky bar before we go back downstairs to the ground floor and the security lady sends us through a strange exit to the back of the hotel.
Rikka's dad had recommended that we go to another hotel as it was apparently one of Bangkok's best hotels and Geoff had stayed here when he came over on business. We're only 800m away according to a Tuk Tuk driver, so we walk :)
Arriving at the Mandarin Oriental hotel is quite impressive. Walk through to the foyer and into the bar which is situated next to the river. Order a slightly cheaper drink this time. We get complimentary nuts (not sure what type - but I'd not seen them before). After eating the first jut whole I realised that it was strange that they'd also given us a smaller bowl to use for the shells. Luckily we'd just had one, it didn't taste too bad with the shell...
We take a taxi home on the meter which we found from André and Thiago is cheaper at this time of night than agreeing a fixed price.
Walk up Kaosan road, at night this place is CRAZY! So many people playing loud music out of places that, earlier in the day, was a market stall. Lots of people trying to sell you laughing gas. And old men selling tickets to Ping Pong shows making a funny popping noise with their mouths :O
Sit down at an Irish bar for a beer and a man offers Rikka a small Scorpion to eat (a dead one). After much hesitation Rikka eats the pincers one at a time. Then when she gets to its body she bites down and the legs touch her mouth which makes her think that it was still alive. She chucks it across the table and into the road - hahaha!
After our eventful evening we head to bed at 12:30.
