"Say it aint so..."
Hooray! We have car! Just two things steering wheel is on the wrong side and now I have to learn to drive on the otherwise of the road! So the goal was London! And Colins epic birthday. We hadn't told anyone other than Gatt that we were on the way either. 900kms of road ahead. Dias and I jumped in set the GPS and missioned it to Calais! We had a train to catch. Ok we got used to the driving reasonably quickly but the autobahn wow. We were going a reasonable 140kmph of course theres no speed limit and people where flying past us. Eventually we got to Calais and stopped for the night before the channel train the next morning. We parked the car on the train in the morning and before we knew it popped out in the UK. From there up to Croydon and on the tube for Colins. The surprise was brilliant. We fooled everyone and they were happy to see us, I mean who wouldn't be. Party just as epic.
We left London now with Gatt in tow back towards Germany. First night was in Calais where all we did was fall asleep little boring. But we made up for it the following day getting to Lille, a small French town which happen to be have a city wide market, and Hoegaarden the town, where of course they make the beer! We had an epic Flemish stew at the brewery and a few beers before heading back to Brussels for a bed and more beers? An epic night out and after a reasonable sleep we got up and this is when our trip to a slight turn for the worse. Not only were we tired and hungover but the car had been broken into and we where missing lots. They took a pile of my clothes and my day pack, Gatt and Dias' whole bags, cameras, and IPods. s***. Police reports and a trip to the rental company in Brussels we left with a new car and half our gear bound for Cologne. We just wanted out of Belgium. Cologne for the record is really nice. One the beat looking churches and generally a very pretty city. Not to mention the women there oh! We shopped and filled out insurance info for most part of our two days. After replacing what was essential and missing like bags and clothes we then drowned our sorrows with yet another night full of beers. With the return date creeping up next morning we took off up to Hamburg again and here tonight were taking it easy. Give the body and wallets a break. Plus look back at an epic and very eventful 7 days.
