The Dragon's Travels
25/7/15
Hello everyone.
Well I've moved along after nearly 3 weeks in lovely coastal Scarborough.
I rode, walked and got the bus up there 20 miles north and south, 30 miles west plus 110 miles to Chatsworth house so saw a bit.
I also saw another stately home at Bridlington which had any Amy Johnston exhibition PLUS a Downton Abbey costume display. Oh joy!
I left Scarborough finally to visit a friend in Warwick ( near Birmingham ) for the day, staying in an historic pub nearby.
I visited an amazing church the next day -St Mary's where lots of very important people are buried ( forgotten their names but include Earls of Warwick and Leicester and the brother of a Queen) It has one of only 3 in the UK special ribbed roofs, the only chapter house in a parish church etc etc. really interesting.
Then it was off to Southampton to the exs-cousins.
We went to a National trust house and garden and on my last day I finally had tea and scones for PM tea. Lovely!
It was with the real Devon clotted cream I'd been hearing about for months!
And after 2 1/2 months in the UK I flew to Paris on a cheapie flight into Orly.
I'd been stressing for weeks about my luggage weight -and I was under the allowance easily. What a relief!
I got in early and my bus and metro connections were easy so I had a long wait for Chelsea at the train station.
Once we reunited ( yes I cried of course) we got the train south to Blois in the Loire Valley where we start a 250 km bike ride today.
We spent most of yesterday exploring the Chateaux which had amazing furnishings, paintings, architecture etc, and tried to absorb 1000 yrs of French Royal History. Their capital was here at times, and this had one of the main palaces along with Fontainebleau.
Chelsea managed to cram in lots of sightseeing in her 2 days in Paris too.
We are seeing another 3 Chateaux's on the ride which I'm looking forward to, and there's a bit of wine- tasting too which Chelsea is keen on!!!
The weather forecast isn't great unfortunately!! Should be fine and hot -but!! No, cool and showery.
Ok, I'll let you know how we go.
Carol and now Chelsea.

debz Oh this was a delight to read, you sound so much happier. I bet you cried, it's been a long time without your family, and a person needs company. Lots of Love to Chelsea, she will have you doing some more tourist stuff. (normal stuff hahaha) Enjoy Love Debz
debz finally got to see your photos, for some silly reason I had trouble. I wish you could just tick what you like having to fill in my details all the time is a pain. enjoy Debz
Anne You certainly sound and look SOO much more relaxed.....that walk sounded so tough! .... but great that you remember so many positives all the same. Cycling must be so easy compared, and plenty of great things to see and taste. Raining and cold again in NZ. All good though. Keep on having fun there and enjoy Chelsea's company. Love, Anne
