Wow what a day. I caught the fast train to Brussels and after some confusion as I came into a different station to the one I had a map for I found the hotel. In the middle of mini Morocco ! Hmmm
The hotel room is very ordinary. I set off for the centre which isn't far.
All of you who have been here will know what I mean about how historic this place is.
It is brimming with 200-400 yr old buildings that are covered in carvings, gargoyles etc. just beautiful. Oh and a ton of gold paInt too.
There are Churches everywhere, surprising to me all Catholic. I had thought the Dutch influence would have Calviinist Church's. Some are on 1000 yr old sites. There were 300 yr old tombs and headstones..
It is much colder than Paris, 15oC and very windy. Most are rugged up in long coats and scarves. I froze in a long sleeved blouse but luckily still had my woollen socks and boots on. My bag may be 1 kg lighter now. A man lifted it into the overhead rack on the train.
My back is so sore from my day bag.. The waist strap is not taking any weight off my shoulders.
I had a major panic attack today having misplaced my gorgeous Aussie passport..
After ripping everything apart and stopping to think rationally I remembered I had "hidden " it yesterday in an internal pocket ( to hide it from the baddies when I was robbed!)
Oh boy, that was scary..
Tomorrow I am doing a 12 hr day trip to Amsterdam . There are tulips out here as in France so hope to see fields of them.
I still have some museums here to see on Sunday before joining a Battlefields War Tour Sunday night. I haven 't been to one museum yet which is unusual for me..
Ok, off for shower and washing and re packing my bag ready for tomorrow. This hotel is not on the tour pick up list so I have to walk to the tour office. And sadly walk back tomorrow night. I checked the route tonight. And it's all very busy so should be ok.
Bye for now.
