The Mountain Museum displays information about the geology, plants, ecology and history of the national park. It's a very good museum and gives a good picture of the area, just enough information.

Walking along the Soca Pot. We set off from the farmhouse and walked about 10 km to a guesthouse for lunch. Stanka picked us up and took us further to another place and river where we walked into 'gaj' or paradise. It was very paradise-like. Breathtaking really. Walked along the road to a tea place where Stanka picked us up to go 'home '. Great day of about 15km walk.

We drove along a road that had been built by Russian POWs in WWI and there was evidence of military presence in many locations. A bit of walking and learning about the area.

The overnight at the very peaceful farmhouse was a great introduction to life in the Julian Alps. Tanya was very cheery and welcoming; lots of people were celebrating birthdays there all day but everything quietened down overnight. Next morning a very hearty breakfast and a nice chat with the owner who thrived on being the hub of the valley.

After a quiet night's sleep in the old part of Lubljana I went for a little walk and came upon the annual marathon kick off through the streets of the old town. All very exciting as the very healthy Slovenians headed off for their runs. Back at the hotel my guide Katerina was waiting for me. We took another tour of the town, had a delicious lunch and got out of town and into the Triglav National Park in the Julian Alps. Wonderful. Took a short but very steep cl...
