Farewell Vienna hullo Ljubljana. Time to pack the bags and get on the road. After a short walk through the old city once again I say goodbye to Wien.

The underground trains are quite full but they are so fast I understand why people use it. Finding the way was very easy and the train is both comfortable and clean.

My compartment is filled with me and 4 national service young men from Graz. They're all tired from a big night out last night but they are all of good cheer.

We talk in broken English. They are interested in what sports are played in Australia.

And I find out about their families. They say that the army is boring and they will be happy to finish their service in August.

The countryside around Vienna is quite beautiful - alpine scenes and rolling valleys. Almost Sound of Music country.

Soon to change trains at Maribor and then a couple of hours to Ljubljana.
