So today I had a scortching shower just like the ones at home it was brilliant. And breakfast was at 9 so i had a wicked lie in. Basically I was all ready to go. Theres a river that runs right next to our campsite.
We got our helmets waterproofs and life jackets on and after a little talk on how to raft - we went rafting! It was so much fun and you dont just sit on the rafts you paddle. A lot. and you have to shove your feet under these inflatable things so you dont fall off cos its a little hectic with rapids and rocks. All in all it wasnt a crazy rafting, it was level 3 (level 5 is extreme) so for my first time rafting it was pretty perfect. I really enjoyed myself even though it was pretty cold. Had a little buffet lunch after that too and changed.
Not much time to recharge though as we put helmets and safety harnesses on and headed up the mountains for some Zipwire! It was a 20 min climb to a height of 230m or something crazy like that. When I got to the top (a bit hot and out of breath lol - the sun had come out!) i peered at the line and teared up. I was so scared this line just went completey over a canyon, river and our campsite and it was REALLY high. Trying not to psyche myself out i watched a few people go but i was still pretty shaky and scared for some reason. Youre all harnessed in and its so safe (the rafting felt really safe too). But yeah i was still scared. So i went to get zipped in, prety much unable to talk and then last minute before getting pushed off the cliff decided i really could not do it.
Too bad.
I got pushed off anyway and was hurtling along a cable above some crazy canyon. Once I actually stopped crying I noticed just how beautiful everything around me was and had a moment of enjoyment. Then i saw the end coming towards me and got scared again and started crying again.
There were 4 zips in total one straight after the other zipping back and forth across this canyon until the 4th one leads straight back into camp. I only cried on the first 2. They gave me the option to walk down but i figured I should stop being a sook and just go for it. I dont regret it at all! Probaby wont do it again but Im glad i did it. I was scared to raft too. And to horse ride. Theres a first time for everything and I guess i know i just dont like ziplining.
Anyway were just getting ready for dinner. Were leaving here at 5am tomorrow so I may say goodbye to the oasis lot and just enjoy my time in Argentina. I absolutely adore Salta and cannot believe were already going to leave Argentina - Bolivia next!
Got some truck days and free camping coming up though. Not to mention some minus degree weather im totally not looking forward to. Then again ive only got 9 days left with everyone so im gonna make the most of it. I love everyone out here and im going to miss them a lot. Ive learnt a lot about life from them too which is great.
Anyway not sure what Bolivia will be like except for coldness and poverty, its going to be such an interesting place to be in.
And thats pretty much it for Argentina i think! On to Potosi next.
