12 May
Up at 09h30 I head down to Simple Life to start with the rescue course, today will be a full day of First Aid, Second Aid and CPR. Bex, my instructor sits with me obtaining all the relevant information before I start watching the DVD. The DVD itself is longer than 2 ½ hours! I break for lunch at 12h00 and head back to look for Leanne not confident that she will be back at the flat. I had told her earlier that I would be doing the theory the whole morning after which we would be heading to the clinic to perform the practical part of the course. They had changed that giving me a lunch in between. I headed to all the places she would have been but couldn't find her so I settled in for lunch after which I headed to the flat to wait before being picked up by Bex.
Leanne had spent the morning reading and tanning at the beach which unfortunately is to shallow to swim in, a characteristic we had experienced at many of the beaches on the islands. After this she headed to a restaurant where she chatted on skype before returning to the flat.
We chatted about what I had done the morning before I needed to leave for the clinic. Bex picked me up with an old scrambler she had bought a month before, enabling her to drive to her accommodation in the rainy months when only a scrambler or 4x4 were suitable. At the clinic she went through different scenarios which I needed to analyze and offer a plan of action. This went on for more than 1 ½ hours before we started with "Anny" the CPR dummy. Finished with all the practical work and Bex happy that I had satisfactorily passed all the necessary practical tests we headed out to her motorcycle.
The clinic was used on occasion by Simple Life to do practical tests for first aid and they therefore did not have keys to the premises. Unfortunately Bex had locked her keys inside and we therefore had to contact one of the personnel who took almost an hour to come before we could get the keys and head home.
Back home Leanne and I enjoyed supper before heading home to start on the Rescue theory DVD before heading for bed.
