After a group discussion, we decided that one way we could get our trek back on track from missing a day, was to get a jeep back down to jomsom and to continue our hike from there. The terrain towards our new stop was to be gentle and reasonably flat, so the 20km we had ahead of us didn't sound to daunting. We started our hike out of jomsom around 10. A late start but we new this was the sacrifice of adding the jeep ride in. Nothing had prepared me fit howmuch dust as ahead. Swirling gusts came through the deep valley in massive clouds towards is with a wind the was certainly a force to be reckoned with. After around 2 hours we reached Marpha. The village which was our original nights stay but was now just a passing point. We continued on battlling the wind and dust pushing through each small hurdle just hoping that the next village was our lunch destination. At around 1pm we eventually reached talopani. And dived into the lodge, a welcome shelter from the biter sharp wind outside.
After a toasted Sarnie and chips we headed back outside. The terrain started to grow greener with each step with less dust and wind. We passed through lots of small villages, a gradual countdown to kalopani. The relief when we finally walked through our lodge door after 3 days of no showers and the dusty day we had just had, was welcome. We all took a relieving hit shower before another dal bhat dinner with toasty feet from the coals under the table.
