There were two remaining points on my KL itinerary: Take pictures of the Petronius towers from the Skybar at the Traders Hotel and have dinner at the night market in K.G. Baharu. I did not manage either task but there still was adventure to be had.
I did not think I was dressed well enough for the Skybar. My thongs and feet were filthy and my pants had soaked up so much dirty water from the batu caves that there was a ring around my caves. Besides from what I read the windows steam up after it rains so onto onto the K.G. Baharu night market.
In route to the market a stocky Chinese guy stopped me and asked an accent that could best be described as a cross between Chinese and Jamaican, "You like ladies? COME I will show you the BEST in Kuala Lumpur. If you not like, DONT WORRY but if you pay you can eat, drink for free, EVERYTHING available to a GENTLEMAN like you. I said, "Yes, I like ladies" and minute later I was on the back of motorcycle cruising the back alleyways of Kuala Lumpur.
The motorcycle weaved down alley ways passed people crowded around little barbecues, whizzing by the rear of restaurant kitchens as busboys busily washed large pots and pans, under a lady moving cloths along a wash line. The motorcycle stopped at the back entrance of a hotel and I followed through the corridors, passed a laundry, the kitchen and into a service elevator. When the doors opened there was a bar to the left and to the right the reception desk of the A-1 Gentleman's Executive Spa and the first floor of the Alpha Genesis Hotel. I was lead down a hallway into a room with a blue patterned half circle couch and large coffee table. Along the way I peeked into similar rooms, with Chinese, Indians and possibly Malaysians smoking and drinking. I was offered a beer for 20 Ringgit ($7.00) Pricey but not unheard of in this Muslim country. I accepted and there I was with my beer in an empty room watching Asians play basketball on a nearby TV.
About five minutes later the guy who brought me there and a representative of the spa came in and asked me where I was from and if I was enjoying myself in KL and asked what I had seen here. It was all very cordial, friendly yet formal. He asked what my interests were and then the guy with the motorcycle spoke up, "He will show you all KINDS of ladies, you choose." A moment later there were seven women in front of me looking like a hooker UN: Chinese, Thai or Vietnamese, Russian, Indian and Middle Eastern. "You can have IT ALL for 250 Ringgit, massage, THE SEX, blow job, food, drink. ANYTHING you want, just pick lady." Well the decision was already made for me, all I had in my pocket was 45 Ringgit and some change for the metro. I politely said no and the seven sexy models single filed it out of the door from which they came and I was left alone with my beer and the second half of Malaysian basketball.
I left out the front door of the Alpha Genesis Hotel, nicer digs than my place but I had no idea where it was in KL. They'll get to to Alpha Genesis but they won't take you home. Maybe THAT was included in the 250 Ringgit. Notwithstanding the morality, possible human trafficking or prostitution aspect of it the experience was worth the pricey beer. I would have paid more than 20 ringgits for just the motorcycle ride. I finally found the metro to K.G Baharu but by then it was time to go home and pack for my flight to Colombo.
