Made it to the last stop!
We flew out of Fiji at 10am, flight FJ411 on a Boeing 747-400 (irrelevant, geeky info for you there). I watched the Accidental Husband which was predictable but alright. I wanted to watch Tangled or The King's Speech but I'm saving them for when I get home.
When we landed the pilot started reminiscing about the 'olden days' when it took 7 days and not 3 hours to travel from Fiji to New Zealand. He went on for quite a while; I think he was quite in awe of air travel, which is worrying as he had just been flying a jumbo jet.
We met our new travel companion, Vicky's friend from home, Sophie, at arrivals and went to collect our campervan!
It is pretty cool - we have a toilet and shower and plenty of storage space.
I drove us the first five minutes to Countdown (exactly the same as Woolworths in Australia) where we did a big food and essentials shop which only cost us £20 each - it is much cheaper than Aus here which is great. We then unpacked our bags and stowed them away - such a luxury; no more re-packing until 4th May!
Taylor then did the first long drive, which took us just past Hamilton, where I took over and drove us the rest of the way to Rotorua. It is actually quite easy to drive, but very big, and the gears are hard to get used to at first! (second is at the top, third at the bottom etc.) Also the indicator and windscreen wiper sticks are the other way around.
We parked up in Rotorua at the side of a road in the city centre, near a backpacker hostel, and cooked some pasta for dinner, before settling down to bed. It's great having our own little moving room!
