The night before I was to arrive in Ko Phi Phi I stayed in the VERY small town of Krabi when I was meeting Amelia (closest uni friend) in the morning. The town was so small and everything shut really early but managed to amuse ourselves with eating street stall food and playing the card game s*** head! To my surprise, an everyone in the surrounding bungalows, Meals arrived at 6am and I can say I've never been so glad to see her!! Was so amazing that she'd just rocked up in this tiny little Thai town and we spent the next 10 mintues screaming, hugging with a whole lot of "I CAN'T BELIEVE YOUR HERE....I CAN'T BELIEVE I'M HERE!!!"
After getting some pretty dodgy looks off of our neighbours we boarded the boat to the island and arrived to the most beautiful day in Ko Phi Phi. We checked into Phi Phi Hotel we went exploring the beaches and rock pools. Came across the most adorable golden retrievers puppies playing with sand crabs.....so we played with them for about an hour :D
My obsession with prawns was taking to a whole new level that night when we went to Seafood bbq...amazing! The food was so fresh & so were we after 2 of their lovely cocktails.
The next couple of days were spent heading to the beach, topping up the tans and catching up with all the goss and news from home! The nights were filled with cocktails and vodka buckets! I mean what better place than paradise to be on holiday with your best friend!!!!
We visited the Tsunami memorial one evening to pay our respects. This christmas it is the fourth year anniversary! Surprisingly it was quite small, a small garden just set back from the beach where a few relatives had left pictures and notations. Had a very pretty view of the beach though!
On our last day in Phi Phi we decided to get up early and hire a longtail boat out to Mya beach (which is the beach where they filmed the movie "The Beach"). This went perfectly and we were having so much fun. We'd taken some silly pictures jumping around, gone snorkelling in a beautiful cove and dived into a 25m deep blue lagoon. The trip was perfect until this point.........the next stop was at Monkey Beach and it kinda went peachy from here. Our driver 'Red' asked if we wanted to stop, after reluctantly agreeing he moored the boat on the beach and as soon as that'd happened monkeys were jumping on the boat all around us. They'd obviously been used to being fed by all the tourists which is why one of them grabbed Amelia's arm, looked at her and then full on bit her arm.
She jumped back and shook it off but as it'd had slightly broken the skin we didn't know what to do!!! Dduunnnnn ddunnnnn dunnnnnnnnnn. Martin Brown was a hero and came to our rescue at 5am (thanks Dad) telling us to go the Pharmacy to get it looked at but because it had drawn a bit of blood they told her she needed to go to the hospital to be safe! SOOOO we trudged to the hospital (2 minute walk haha) with an hour before our boat back to the mainland and she got her first rabies injection.
We're now hoping she doesn't contract the disease and I'm looking our for any signs of foaming at the mouth hahaha!......... Kidding she's doing ok, you'll be happy to know she's completed the full course and won't get rabies but just in case, don't let her bite you :P
Love from Ko Phi Phi xxxxx
