Well we're in Zambia! Crossed the border fairly uneventfully, although we chose to watch the truck whilst three lads surveyed the goods on offer. I'm sure they would have been quick enough to release us of our bags if we'd given them half the chance!
We're staying at Croc Camp in South Luangwa National Park, where apparently elephants, hippos, lions, and a leopard have been known to wander through camp. Just before we arrived a few elephants came unstuck in the pool as one of the young went in but couldn't get out again! Well they got out with the mother's help, but then the mother got stuck and had to be helped out by the staff and some tarpaulin!
The hippos weren't such a problem though: they just get turned into biltong when there's too many of them! I did buy some, but have no idea how it tastes as it's on its way to Telford. Enjoy.
After buying some Sunlight washing powder I was able to wash my clothes, thus making me smell less like a local! Unfortunately my whites are still yellow though.
Truck fever is definitely setting in, as I find myself noticing people's habits and not being able to ignore them. One of the main ones is someone who eats just like Bugs Bunny: imagine the sound effects if you will. Lots of breathing in through the nose and out through the mouth when she's around. Stay calm.
I've now got fifteen more bites to add to my Zanzibar total, so hopefully this Malarone stuff is actually doing some good. I hold Ali personally responsible if not!
We went on a night drive last night in search of a leopard kill, but unfortunately the big spotlight our guide kept shining his way meant we were prone to giving away his position to prey!
